I’m Cheri Hardmon, and I hope you will give me the opportunity to fight for you in Lansing as your State Representative in House District 68.
I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but my family moved to Michigan when I was three years old. I grew up in Belleville, Michigan, graduated from Belleville High School, and received my Bachelor of Arts at Wayne State University, majoring in Media Arts.
I began my broadcasting career at a TV station in Youngstown, Ohio, working as a sports reporter. I made more career stops in Detroit, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis before making my way to Mid Michigan in 2011, where I worked at multiple TV stations over the past decade. After nearly five years, I left my job at WJRT ABC 12 in April 2022 to run for office as a State Representative.
All Michiganders deserve a fair and living wage. To provide for their families while working a full-time job and without living paycheck to paycheck.
The Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights, striking down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, and it will fall to the states to protect a woman’s right to choose. I will do everything I can to protect those rights.
Every Michigan student deserves a quality education. Teachers deserve the support and tools they need to focus on educating students. I support any effort to make sure school districts have the funding it needs to make sure that happens.
I also support access to quality and affordable healthcare and infrastructure. As a reporter covering the Flint water crisis, I know the impact of not having either. We must provide all Michiganders access to clean drinking water.
